One-on-one training provides clients with knowledge, support and immediate feedback from a Certified Personal Trainer or Pilates Instructor to help achieve their fitness goals. Build proper fitness habits through expert advice that will benefit a lifelong fitness journey. In addition, gain someone to rely on, advise and provide support in and out of the gym. Sessions are built around the participant’s schedule and extremely flexible.

Our goal is to identify the trainer that is the best fit for your availability, goals, and personal preferences based on your initial consultation answers. All training options require a membership, and in-person training is only available to individuals who have access to our facilities.

If you are ready to schedule an appointment, please complete the following:

  1. Please download and complete the Par-Q & You health history questionnaire, then submit it to fitness@duke.edu.
  2. Submit your Personal Training or Pilates Request Form.
  3. After your submission is received, you will be paired with a Personal Trainer or Pilates Instructor based on availability or specialization via e-mail, and next steps will be provided.

Personal Training

Personal Training provides participants one-on-one, individualized instruction based on participant abilities, learning styles and goals. Current Duke students and Rec & P.E. Members are able to participate.

Training Options

A one-time deal for new clients only, this package includes 3 sessions with a Duke Personal Trainer. The first session is primarily meant to serve as a comprehensive assessment.

Receive a customized program to fit your needs from one of our Certified Personal Trainers but train in your own space at your own time. For those who are comfortable in the weight room, have a modest level of experience with lifting, and are cleared for physical activity, this service gives you a customized program built by one of our Certified Personal Trainers to do when and where you choose. Current Duke students/Rec & P.E. Members (including Digital Members) are able to participate. Programs are not location-based which make them a great option for anyone on Duke’s campus or beyond!

Plans Include:
  • Initial virtual consult with your assigned trainer
  • 30-day program based on your goals
  • Optional 30-minute virtual check in meeting with your personal trainer at your desired time within the 30 days
  • 30-minute virtual end of month wrap up meeting with your trainer

Pilates

Due to an instructor shortage, we are currently not taking new Private Pilates clients. If you'd like to be added to a contact list for when instructors are available again, please email fitness@duke.edu.

Pilates is an excellent low-impact, full-body workout focused on core, posture, balance/imbalances and/or flexibility. Work with a Certified Pilates Instructor while utilizing equipment such as the Reformer, Chair, and Tower in our private Mind/Body Studio at Brodie Recreation Center. 

Training Options

A one-time deal for new clients only, this package includes 3 private sessions with a Duke Pilates Instructor. The first session will include an assessment that will assist the instructor in putting together the best possible workout for each client.
