Expand your skills in health and safety with courses including lifeguarding, first aid and CPR/AED. All of our programs are open to current Duke students and/or Duke Rec & P.E. members. Some, such as Youth Learn-to-Swim and Red Cross trainings, are open to the general public. No matter the level of skill or interest, there is something for everyone.

What We Offer
Swim Lessons
Swim Lessons through Duke Rec & P.E. are designed for individuals new to swimming, those who wish to become more proficient swimmers, and everything in between. We offer both group and individualized instruction options for swimmers of all ages. Pricing and registration can be reviewed on MyRec.
Safety Courses
Duke Rec & P.E. is an American Red Cross teaching facility. American Red Cross Lifeguard and First Aid/CPR/AED courses are designed to teach participants the skills and knowledge to prevent, recognize, and respond to various types of emergencies until emergency medical services take over.

Masters Swim
This Adult fitness series is for lap swimmers, fitness swimmers, triathletes, or anyone who is interested in improving their fitness through swimming. A qualified coach will deliver swim workouts and provide feedback to swimmers on technique & performance in a friendly and encouraging environment. You must be able to swim 200 yards continuously. Knowledge of all four strokes (freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly) is preferred.
