Director of Fitness & Wellness

Dr. Natalie Jones joined the Duke Recreation & Physical Education department in 2022. Dr. Jones earned a BFA in Kinesiology in 2013, a Master of Public Health in 2015, and Doctorate in Public Health in 2021. Her professional experiences have spanned clinical, community, and research settings –including hospitals, corporate wellness, and research to improve physical activity through the built environment.

Currently, her work focuses on the development and implementation of all fitness and wellness programs, including group exercise, personal training, and providing a variety of wellness experiences on campus. Her immediate goal is to create a safe, equitable, and inclusive environment to ensure that the entire Duke community can work smart and play well.

Natalie is an avid road cyclist, Ironman triathlete, and group fitness enthusiast. In the summer of 2021, she and her brother biked across the United States utilizing the Adventure Cycling Western Express and TransAmerica Trail routes fundraising for Team in Training with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Natalie is a member of various professional organizations including the American Public Health Association, League of American Bicyclists, and NIRSA.
