Director of Sport Programs
Laura Shively grew up in Clayton, NC with her siblings, Logan and Sarah. She played sports as a child and took that passion with her to college at UNC Wilmington where she played club softball. Laura began her path in campus recreation at UNCW, where she served as an intramural official (and a 27-time IM champion!) and ultimately became a supervisor. She continued her education at UNCW and received her master's degree in Physical Education while also serving as a Graduate Assistant in the campus recreation department.
After graduation, she received her first full-time job at the University of Arkansas as the Coordinator of Clubs and Intramural Sports, while also earning a second Masters degree in Higher Education. Laura later briefly worked a position at East Carolina University as the Coordinator of Club Sports. In the Summer of 2022, Laura accepted the job as Director of Sport Programs at Duke.
In her spare time, Laura loves to watch, play and officiate sports. She also strives to help others see how impactful playing sports can be and to create an inclusive environment for all to enjoy what campus recreation has to offer!
