Director of Recreation Facilities

Dylan is originally from Roanoke, Virginia where he grew up playing youth sports such as baseball, football, and soccer. Even as a child, he enjoyed sports because they were an avenue to connect with others and build relationships. This interest has carried on in Dylan’s life through his education and career today.

Dylan attended Emory & Henry College and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Sports Management and Economics in 2015. He then attended East Tennessee State University and earned his master’s degree in Kinesiology & Sport Studies in 2016.

Dylan began his professional career working with underserved and underrepresented groups of middle and high school students in Bristol, VA school systems. Soon, he realized his desire was to work with college students. When a position at his alma mater, Emory & Henry College, opened, Dylan seized the opportunity. He worked in student affairs as a Housing Area Coordinator who additionally oversaw the Intramural Sports program. Quickly, he was promoted to Director of Campus Recreation where he oversaw the first campus recreation program in school history. During his three years at Emory & Henry College, he had various accomplishments including introducing the first dedicated recreation facility on campus, growing the department’s student staff to the second largest campus-wide, and overseeing construction of a new outdoor basketball court. Following this time, Dylan then joined the Duke Rec & P.E. team in 2022 where he primarily oversees day to day operations of the Brodie Recreation Center, supervises a team of part-time staff, and manages reservations for Rec & P.E. Facilities. Overall, Dylan believes in the importance of helping others and will continue to prioritize connections and relationships through his work and all that he does.

Outside of work, Dylan treasures his time with his family that consists of his wife, Brittany, their two sons, Liam, and Miloh, and two dogs, Charlie and Roo-Lou. He enjoys watching sports, specifically all things Pittsburgh, and loves trying new places to eat, especially if it is Chinese or seafood.
