Coordinator of Sport Clubs
Brittney grew up in Upstate, New York. As an only child, she found connection through team sports and grew passionate about the experiences and opportunities presented through involvement in sports.
Brittney attended Towson University where she initially wanted to pursue a degree in History and Secondary Education. After arriving to Towson University, Brittney sought out ways to still be connected and involved with sport and joined the Women’s Club Rugby team where she found a community and experiences that were the highlights of her undergraduate career. Brittney began working as a Sport Club Supervisor to help oversee Sport Clubs, and discovered a passion for the blend of competition and leadership aspects that involvement in a Sport Club provides. She realized that she could pursue a full-time professional career in Campus Recreation to continue to provide the same experiences that she had in undergrad to future students. Brittney changed her major from History/Secondary Education to Sport Management and spent an extra year at Towson while she earned her BS in Sport Management.
After undergrad, Brittney secured a position as the Graduate Assistant for Sport Clubs with the University of Central Florida Recreation and Wellness team. During this time, Brittney had the opportunity to learn a variety of skills to help make her a better Campus Recreation professional, and her passion for Sport Clubs grew exponentially. After securing her M.Ed in Higher Education and Policy Studies, Brittney was not yet ready to leave UCF and spent a year serving as the Interim Coordinator for the Office of Student Conduct.
Excited to have the opportunity to come back to Campus Recreation, Brittney moved to Durham in July of 2019 to join the Duke Recreation & Physical Education team as the Coordinator of Sport Clubs. She finds fulfillment and enjoyment in her role by providing an opportunity for students to build new communities and to stay connected to the sports they grew up loving (or are just discovering).
In her free time Brittney likes to spend time with her partner, Chloё, their two cats Milo and Mango, and their dog Leo. Their furry family enjoys taking beach trips, hiking, and watching Chloё play rugby on the weekends. When she can, Brittney really loves to spend a day doing absolutely nothing but playing video games and knocking a book off her to-be-read list.
