The Department of Recreation & Physical Education offers affordable Rec & PE Memberships to members of the Duke University community. This includes Students, Student Spouses, Alumni, Faculty, Staff, Retirees, and Visiting Scholars. Alumni, Faculty, and Staff may enroll spouses and children in a Rec & PE Membership once they have sponsored them for a DukeCard. Rec & PE Memberships include access to both Brodie Recreation Center and Wilson Recreation Center, including Taishoff Aquatics Pavilion, and the programs offered by Recreation & Physical Education.
All Rec & PE Memberships can be enrolled in at any time and Annual and Monthly Rec & PE Memberships are prorated based on the date of enrollment.

Faculty, Staff, and Alumni are eligible to enroll in a Family Annual Rec & PE Membership, which includes two adults and up to two children ages 10-26. To enroll a spouse or child in the Membership they must first by sponsored for a DukeCard. Faculty and Staff may sponsor spouses and children through the OIT Guest Tool, and Alumni may sponsor spouses and children via the Alumni Association website. Once completed, spouses and children must visit the DukeCard Office with the Duke employee to purchase their DukeCard and may be added to the Membership. Anyone 18 and older must be present at the time of enrollment to sign the Rec & PE Membership Application. Children ages 10-15 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian while in a Recreation Center. Families with more than two children may enroll additional children for a fee per child.
Duke Alumni have two ways of accessing the Recreation Centers. One way is to enroll in any Rec & PE Membership type: Individual or Family Annual, Semester, or Monthly. The second is that all alumni receive 5 free visits to the Recreation Centers each year. Visits renew on January 1 and can be seen and used on the Alumni Association App. To enroll in a Rec & PE Membership, alumni must first set up their account at the alumni association website and download the alumni association app for their virtual alumni card. Alumni may also request a Night Permit from the Alumni Association to be able to park on campus from 5pm to 7am on weekdays, and all day on the weekends to make parking easier while using the Recreation Centers.
All Undergraduate students and Graduate students in their first three years pay for Rec & PE Memberships through Recreation Fees on their bursar account. Graduate and professional students continuing beyond three years of study receive a Rec & PE Membership. Students should check with the Bursar’s Office if they have questions regarding payment of a Rec & PE Membership.
DukeCard Offices are located at 012 Telecom Drive on West Campus or Duke Clinics, Red Zone.
Guest Passes are available for purchase at the front desk of either Recreation Center. For information about the Recreation & Physical Education Guest Policy, visit the Facility Operating Policies page.
