Rec & P.E. Membership

The Department of Recreation & Physical Education offers affordable Rec & PE memberships to members of the Duke community. This includes students, alumni, faculty, staff, retirees, and affiliates. Duke Recreation & Physical Education membership provides access to Campus Recreation facilities and programs.

Wilson Recreation Center** and Taishoff Aquatics Pavilion will be open for use during Summer 2021. Brodie Recreation Center will remain offline through summer 2021.

Rec & P.E. Membership Types

Summer Membership

The Summer Membership provides access to Wilson Recreation Center** and Taishoff Aquatics Pavilion from May 17, 2021 through August 7, 2021. This membership will include the Digital Library, Personal Training and equipment discounts, and access to in-person Group Fitness and Intramural Sports.

  • Available for purchase anytime through the MyRec portal.
  • Eligible for members of the Duke Community with a valid, non-expired DukeCard.
    NOTE: Undergraduate students will need to purchase a Summer Membership if they wish to utilize Recreation facilities this summer. Graduate students who have previously had the recreation fee covered by their school or program should reach out to their respective school to determine if they need to purchase a Summer Membership.

  • Reservations are required to access all facilities. Learn more on our Operating Policies page.
  • Members will be required to sign a waiver at the time of purchase agreeing to all Duke Rec & PE and recreation facility policies and procedures.
Digital Library Access

The Rec & P.E. Digital Library Access provides access to a variety of programming through recorded fitness classes and access to virtual personal training.

Membership Cost

$15, for access between May 17, 2021 and August 7, 2021.

  • Available for purchase anytime through the MyRec portal.
  • Open to anyone; Duke affiliation is not required.
  • Instructions on how to purchase your Digital Membership are outlined below.
  • Provides access to Digital Resources only. The Digital Library Access does not provide access to recreation facilities and will not allow you to make a facility reservation.
  • If you purchase a Summer Membership or are taking in-person or hybrid PE classes you do not need to purchase.

*Duke Recreation & Physical Education has a strict no cancellation, no refund policy. Please read through that policy and ensure that you fully understand your membership purchase before completing your purchase.

Eligibility to Purchase a Summer Membership

  • Duke Undergraduate Students: Duke University will not be automatically charging the Rec Fee for the Summer Membership through the Bursar's Office.* All students who wish to use Recreation facilities must purchase this Membership.
    *If you are taking an in-person or hybrid Physical Education class you will automatically be charged the fee and do NOT need to purchase the Summer Membership.
  • Graduate Students: Some graduate schools cover the cost of the Recreation fee. Please check with your program administration prior to purchasing the Summer Membership.
  • Duke Faculty & Staff: All are eligible, however, Payroll Deduction is not a payment option at this time.
  • Duke Affiliates, Alumni & Retirees: All are eligible, however, if you have not been on campus and used your Duke ID during the past 6 months, please contact the Duke Card Office to confirm that you have a valid, non-expired Duke ID before the purchase. All sales are final and no refunds will be issued.

  • Valid Duke ID and symptom monitoring is required for entry. See our Arrival & Check-in Process for details.
  • Online Reservations through MyRec are required for entry.
  • Limited Occupancy: Our spaces have capacity limits per time-slot.
  • Strict COVID-19 policies (face masks, reservations, no shows, etc.) will be enforced. See our Operating Policies page for details.

    How to Sign Up for Your Summer Membership

    Please read all the instructions below before proceeding with purchase. All membership purchases are done through the MyRec Web Portal.

    Students, Faculty, Staff and Retirees
    1. Scroll below and next to the "Select Duration" click on the grey bar that says SUMMER SESSION. The bar will turn blue after your selection.
    2. Notice the starting date, end date, and price of Membership.
      NOTE: Price may prorate depending on date of purchase.
    3. Click ADD TO CART.
    4. Read and sign the Waivers.
      1. After reading the waiver, click on the grey area to open the Signature Box.
      2. Sign and click SAVE.
      3. Click SIGN NOW.
    5. Read and acknowledge the Fitness Warning and Assumption of Risk notice.
    6. Click Checkout to finalize the process and pay through Duke's eCommerce site.
    1. Visit MyRec.
    2. If you have not logged in to MyRec, please do so using your OneLink Account.
      NOTE: If you need assistance with OneLink, please see below.
    3. Scroll down and select "Digital Trial - Duke Alumni Wellness Series" (the grey bar will turn blue)
    4. Notice the starting date, end date, and price ($0).
    5. Click Add to Cart.
    6. Sign the Fitness Participation Agreement.
      1. Read the Waiver.
      2. Click on the grey to open the Signature Box.
      3. Sign on the provided space and click SAVE.
      4. Confirm that the signature appears on the Waiver.
      5. Click SIGN NOW.
    7. Sign the Fitness Participant Guest Waiver.
    8. Reach the Virtual Fitness Warning and Assumption of Risk notice.
    9. Click Add to Cart.
    10. Click Checkout to finalize the process.
    For Alumni Who Need a OneLink Account
    1. Visit the Duke Alumni Association's website
    2. Click on the top-right green Register/Sign In button and follow the instructions.
    3. Once your account is validated, follow the instructions above.
    For Alumni Who are Logging into OneLink for the First Time
    1. Visit our Recreation Center Community Members’ Group by clicking here. You will be asked to log with your valid OneLink account.
    2. Verify that you are in the Recreation Center Community Members page.
    3. Click the JOIN THIS GROUP button (at the bottom of page).
    4. Wait 5 minutes.
      NOTE: This step may take a few minutes. Thank you for your patience as the information is sent through several Duke security systems.
    5. Visit the MyRec Web Portal.
    6. Click LOG IN and use your OneLink Account.
    7. If the account has not been JOINED, you will see a popup window instructing you on the procedure above.

    • Family memberships, trial membership cards, guest passes, and department sponsored guest passes have been suspended at this time.
    • Locker Rooms will be restroom access only until Monday, May 24.
