The Wilson Recreation Center located on West Campus is the larger of the two recreation centers on campus. A 99,000 square ft. facility completed in 1999, the center boasts three basketball-volleyball courts, 2 wood floor multi-purpose rooms with mirrors that are used for a variety of aerobic classes, yoga, Pilates, martial arts and self-defense activities. These rooms are also used by Group Fitness, PE classes and dance groups. The center also houses two classrooms and administrative offices . An average of 3,000 users visit the center per day. The varsity swimming and wrestling programs also practice in Wilson. The administrative offices for Facilities, Campus Recreation, Intramural, Club Sports and Health, Wellness and Physical Education (HWPE) are located in Wilson. Wilson offers a 3 lane indoor 160 meter mondo track, 2 racquetball courts, Quenchers, a snack bar that provides healthy drinks and snacks following a tough workout or when you are craving a refreshing alternative.
Parking Gates for Card Lot have been renovated and permits are now needed for entry and exit.
EFFECTIVE MAY 17:
Dear Recreation Center Members,
We were just informed by parking of some impacts to parking in Card Lot that we wanted to share with you. The upcoming Towerview Construction project that begins next Wednesday, May 17 will impact access to Card Lot after 5 pm.
The construction will prevent anyone without a Card Lot pass from parking in Card Lot after 5 pm on weekdays.
The gates to the Blue Zone from Duke University Road and from Towerview will be open 5am – midnight weekdays, allowing permit holders access to the Card Gym lot. Card Gym permit holders will have access to the Card lot 24/7. All other permits holders who have regular afterhours access will be allowed to park in Card until 7:30am weekdays. After 7:30 am, other permit types will be allowed to park in the Blue Zone and walk to Card/Wilson Rec. On weekends, all permit holders will be allowed to park in Card.
