Chair - Health, Wellness & Physical Education
Scott D. Yakola is the Chair of the Department of the Health, Wellness & Physical Education Department at Duke University and a Professor of Sports Marketing and Sports Finance. He is also the Director of the Duke Athletics Leadership Program and member of the Faculty Working Group on Sports at Duke. Scott has been cited by Duke’s Trinity College for Excellence in Teaching, is a Pre-Major Advisor for undergraduate students and serves on a number of committees at Duke including the Arts and Science Council and the Recreation and Athletic Facilities Master Planning Committee. He has served the Athletic Department as a Coach, as the Director of Sports Promotions and in various leadership roles associated with hosting ACC, NCAA and International Championship events. He has worked in consulting roles on various marketing efforts and leadership development training with organizations like the Atlantic Coast Conference, the Gator Bowl Association, Dr Pepper, CMG Partners, North Carolina Independent High School Athletic Association, the Cannon School, Duke University, Colgate University, North Shore Conference, and others. Scott is a Certified PDP Administrator with Professional DynaMetric Programs, a Certified Habitudes Facilitator, and is a member of the National Board of Directors for the United States Sports Academy Alumni Association.
