Nathan joined the Duke Recreation and Physical Education staff in September of 2012 as the Director of Outdoor Adventures and has served as the Managing Director of Recreation Programs since 2014. In this role, he supports multiple program areas including Intramural Sports, Marketing, Outdoor Adventures, Special Events, and Sport Clubs.

Prior to joining Duke Recreation and Physical Education, Nathan served as the Assistant Director of Adventure Pursuits within Campus Recreation at Towson University and Assistant Director of Rice Outdoor Programs and Education (ROPE) within Recreation and Wellness at Rice University.

Nathan graduated from California State University, Monterey Bay with a degree in Social and Behavioral Science, while minoring in Recreation and Outdoor Education. He then attended Aurora University earning his master’s degree in Recreation Administration. He also holds a graduate certificate in Professional Communications and Managerial Skills from North Carolina State University.

Job Responsibilities
Provide leadership that enhances professional staff and recreation program development. Promote Rec & PE services that supports the health and wellbeing of the Duke community. Advance the department through strategic initiatives that align with its mission, vision, and values.
