Membership Frequently Asked Questions

I’m a Duke employee, can my spouse or children have a Rec & P.E. Membership?
Yes! You are eligible to purchase a Digital Membership to access all of our virtual programming offerings.

I’m a student, do I need to enroll in a Rec & P.E. Membership?
Undergraduate students’ Rec & P.E. Memberships are paid for via the recreation fee on their bursar account. Graduate students will not have physical access to the Recreation facilities for the 2020-2021 academic year.

I’m a student, can my spouse have a Rec & P.E. Membership?
Yes! Your spouse is eligible to purchase a Digital Membership to access all of our virtual programming offerings.

Can my Domestic Partner enroll in a Duke Rec & P.E. Membership?
Yes! Your partner is eligible to purchase a Digital Membership to access all of our virtual programming offerings.

Which recreation center can I use with a Rec & P.E. Membership?
Wilson Recreation Center and Taishoff Aquatics Pavilion will be available to those with a membership allowing physical access to the facilities. At this time, that membership type is limited to students residing on campus who have been assessed a fee through the bursar.

Where do I enroll in a Rec & P.E. Membership?
How to purchase a membership:

  1. Visit your MyRec portal.
  2. Log in through the icon on the top right corner.
  3. Click on the Digital Membership icon.
  4. Click on the membership option you would like to purchase.
  5. To add to cart you must click the grey box first, then add to cart.

The Digital Membership does not provide access to recreation facilities and will not allow you to make a facility reservation through the MyRec portal.

Are Rec & P.E. Memberships Prorated?
Yes, the Digital Membership is prorated throughout the semester.

How do I cancel my Rec & P.E. Membership?
Rec & P.E. Memberships have a no cancellation policy. For details visit Refunds & Cancellations Policies page.

What is the length of my Membership?
The Digital Membership will begin on the date of purchase and will end on December 31, 2020. There will be additional offerings in the Spring Semester.

Can I enroll in a Rec & P.E. Membership at any time during the year?
Yes. The Digital Membership will be available at any time throughout the year.

How do I renew my Rec & P.E. Membership?
Renewals are not available for the fall semester but we encourage you to purchase a Digital Membership by visiting the MyRec Portal.

Do I need to sign a waiver?
Rec & P.E. Members sign a waiver at the time of enrollment. Students sign a waiver as a part of coming to campus.

Who can enroll in a Rec & P.E. Membership?
Rec & P.E. Digital Memberships are available to anyone interested in purchasing that membership.

I have someone visiting me, can they use the recreation centers?
We have suspended the use of guest passes for the 2020-2021 academic year.

Is parking included in my Rec & P.E. Memberships?
No, parking is not included in a Rec & P.E. Membership. For details about parking accessibility, visit our Parking Information page or the Duke Parking & Transportation site directly.

Where can I park when using Wilson Recreation Center or Brodie Recreation Center?

I don’t have a parking permit, how can I park when using the Recreation Centers?
Individuals without a Duke parking permit can request a Night Permit from Duke Parking and Transportation, which allows parking in the lots around the Recreation Centers from 5pm to 7:29am on weekdays, and anytime on the weekends. Visit the Parking and Transportation website for more parking information: parking.duke.edu.

Can my dependent who is a college student purchase a Rec & P.E. Membership while home for the summer?
No, we have suspended the college student membership option for the 2020-2021 academic year. College students will be eligible to purchase the Digital Membership.

I am a Duke alumni, can I still access the Recreation Centers?
No, we are not able to offer memberships or 5 free visits to Alumni during the 2020-2021 academic year. Alumni are encouraged to take advantage of our Digital Membership offering this year.

How do I know if my membership is expired?
Log into your MyRec portal account, click Profile on the top right, click Memberships listed on the left. There you will see your most recent membership and can confirm the expiration date.

What if I have a LIVE FOR LIFE membership?
