Trips & Workshops

The outdoor trips and workshops program offers a wide variety of land and water-based activities for the backcountry novice, the avid explorer, and everyone in between. Examples of our trips include rock climbing, kayaking, canoeing, backpacking, hiking, skiing/snowboarding, and more.

Our clinics offer students the opportunity to explore or enhance their skills in a wide array of topics including basic survival skills, backcountry cooking, wild edible plants, and Leave No Trace outdoor ethics.

Trip Registration: To get more information or to register for Outdoor Adventures trips please come in person to the Climbing Wall in Wilson Recreation Center. Full trip registration fee is due at the time of registration.

Want to learn a bit more about our Spring Break adventures? Join us on Tuesday, February 9th from 7 – 8 pm or Wednesday, February 9th from 7 – 8 pm in Wilson Gym Classroom 20 for a Spring Break Trip Q & A Session! We’ll talk about both trips: Coastal Exploration from 7 – 7:30, and Zion Hiking & Climbing from 7:30 – 8. We will give an overview of each trip, a brief itinerary, and have time to answer any questions you might have. You’ll also get to meet other participants and the trip leaders! No need to confirm attendance, just stop by either night!

Customized Adventures
Looking for something to do with your friends? Want to explore the parks of the Triangle and surrounding areas? Contact the Outdoor Adventure program to set up your own customized trip! The trip will be planned to the specific wishes of each group. Let us customize your next adventure whether it’s rock climbing at Pilot Mountain, paddling a local lake or river, or building camaraderie with co-workers or classmates.

Minimum – 4 people
Maximum – 10 people (trip), 15 people (team building)

Pricing will vary, depending on size of the group, location of activity, length of the trip and number of meals provided.
