Trips & Clinics

The outdoor trips and clinics program offers a wide variety of land and water-based activities for the backcountry novice, the avid explorer, and everyone in between. Examples of our trips include rock climbing, kayaking, canoeing, backpacking, hiking, skiing/snowboarding, and more.

Our clinics offer students the opportunity to explore or enhance their skills in a wide array of topics including basic survival skills, backcountry cooking, wild edible plants, and Leave No Trace outdoor ethics.

Trip Registration: To get more information or to register for Outdoor Adventures trips please come in person to the Climbing Wall in Wilson Recreation Center. Full trip registration fee is due at the time of registration.

Winter Break Trip: Skiing/Snowboarding at Snowshoe Mountain!
January 2-5, 2016 | $375 Students/$400 Fac & Staff

Trip Description: Join us for a Winter Adventure to Snowshoe Mountain in West Virginia! Three all-day (Thursday, Friday, Saturday) lift tickets are included in the trip registration fee, along with access to our slope side apartments. We will be staying on the ski mountain slope side in the Expedition Station Junior Studio Apartments which features kitchenettes, 1 queen size bed, and 1 queen size pull out bed, easy access to the slopes, dining, hot tub and more! All rooms will be filled with 4 people. Room assignments are on a first come, first serve basis when you register for the trip. 3 day ski/snowboard rentals can be purchased for an additional $79 at the resort.

Customized Adventures
Looking for something to do with your friends? Want to explore the parks of the Triangle and surrounding areas? Contact the Outdoor Adventure program to set up your own customized trip! The trip will be planned to the specific wishes of each group. Let us customize your next adventure whether it’s rock climbing at Pilot Mountain, paddling a local lake or river, or building camaraderie with co-workers or classmates.
