Group cycling classes are conducted in a darkened setting with strong music beats to create an energized atmosphere. Instructors guide participants through workout phases, including warm-up, steady uptempo cadences, sprints, climbs, cool-downs, etc. using an interval training approach. Participants control the resistance on their bike to make the pedaling as easy or difficult as they choose. Constant adjustment is normal. Group Cycling bikes have pedals with straps and toe clips so you can wear regular tennis shoes or Shimano-style SPD cleats.
Group Cycling Policies
Cycle classes are 1 hour long and held on the locker room level of the Wilson Center on a first-come first seated basis, 20 person maximum per class. If arriving early, please form a line toward the racquetball courts. A towel is recommended. Removing pedals is not allowed.
Starting Monday, January 13th You will need a Ticket To Ride to participate in some cycle classes (afternoon and weekend). These tickets will be exchanged by the instructor for your Duke ID card 10 minutes before class starts. One ticket per ID only. These tickets will be handed out on a first come first served basis.
